In early 2003, Tom joined the Americas division of Vestas Wind Systems A/S, the world’s leading provider of wind power solutions, and was subsequently appointed its president. He lead the company's sales, project, and service business areas, tripling their annual sales growth from $300mm to over $1bn by recognizing and forming relationships with new and emerging customers and segments in the US and Canadian wind power sector. Following the Vestas acquisition of NEG Micon A/S in early 2004, Tom was responsible for merging the Americas operations of both companies and driving for improvements consistent with market share and profitability objectives defined by corporate management.

 

From 1992 through 2002, Tom was employed by Wartsila Corporation; a leading global company involved in total ship power and distributed power generation solutions. Tom was responsible for the North and Central American business units involved in design, installation, service and operation of power solutions in the range of 10 to 150 MWs. During his tenure as President from 1997 through 2002, the regional business grew to an installed base of 8,000 MWs on land and at sea. His eleven years at Wartsila included a two and half year assignment at their European headquarters as Corporate Vice President of Human Resources.

During the ten years prior to his employment at Wartsila, Tom worked for Bombarbier Corporation where he earned progressively responsible management positions in manufacturing, engineering and business development which involved power generation, marine propulsion and light rail transportation products and services.

 

Tom is a graduate of Cornell University College of Engineering, School of Operations Research and Industrial Engineering. His hands-on management style and operational experience with developing, installing, and operating renewable energy and distributed generation solutions enables him to provide comprehensive energy sector expertise to his clients.
